The NUG welcomes yet another round of sanctions imposed by the US government on the second anniversary of last general election, 8th November. The new additions to the sanctions list are one individual, Kyaw Min Oo and one entity, Sky Aviator Company Limited.

Kyaw Min Oo is a major arm dealer supporting the military and his company, Sky Aviator Company Ltd. is responsible for the importation of aircraft parts for the Burmese military. He also acts as a liaison between the Burmese military and high-ranking foreign military officers even facilitating international visits at which the junta could negotiate for the materiel they need to ply their deadly trade.

We are grateful for the work of the US government in placing these important sanctions. We are also hopeful that further targeted sanctions will follow especially the supply of aviation fuel. The junta is conducting airstrikes on the civilians targeting schools and hospitals, which are war crimes and crimes against humanity. They are responsible for the massacre and mass displacement across the country. The military must be cut off from the tools of their bloody trade. We once again request that all governments and the international community to immediately place aggressive, targeted sanctions on the military regime and those who support and supply them.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sasa
