To our dear friends in the United States, On this special Thanksgiving Day, we, the people of Myanmar, extend our heartfelt wishes to the great nation that has been a beacon of hope and freedom for the world. On this day we want to give thanks to the United States for standing by us in our struggle to end the generations-long cycle of brutal military dictatorship that has terrorized our beloved homeland.

To the U.S. Myanmar community, we extend warm wishes for a happy, joyful, and blessed Thanksgiving. May the spirit of gratitude and hope shine brightly on us all.

Your unwavering support for the cause of freedom, peace, and prosperity in Myanmar has not gone unnoticed. We are especially thankful for the passage of the NDAA Burma Act of 2023, a powerful testament to the shared values of democracy and human rights that bind our nations. We appreciate the leadership of the United States in the international arena, including the critical role played in the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2669 of 2022 on Burma.

As we give thanks today, we appeal for the complete and immediate implementation of UNSC Resolution 2669 and the NDAA Burma Act, including the ASEAN 5 Point Consensus on Myanmar. Urgent efforts are needed to collaborate with ASEAN member states and Myanmar’s neighbours, following through on the 2021 ASEAN Five Point Consensus on Myanmar and international resolutions and bilateral sanctions against the brutal military junta.

Looking to the future, we anticipate that the next Thanksgiving will be a celebration of the success of peace, freedom, and inclusive federal democracy in a new, Federal Democratic Myanmar. Your ongoing support and collaboration are crucial as we work toward this shared vision to make this world a better place for ALL.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sasa
