Today the brave people of Kachin Land celebrated the 61st Anniversary of Kachin Revolution Day, which marks the Kachin people’s 61 years of struggle for freedom and self-determination, and the sacrifices they have made for the humanity, human rights and peace of not only Kachin land but of the entire nation of Myanmar. Myanmar appreciates the brave Kachin people and Kachin Land for hosting and supporting freedom fighters from all over the country. The whole nation of Myanmar is united with the Kachin people in their 61 years of struggle, for freedom, for self-determination, for federal democracy. Our Kachin brothers and sisters have proven strong leaders in the country and our wonderful acting president of National Unity Government of Myanmar H.E Duwa Lashi La has lent his strong leadership to the nation in its time of revolution – the darkest period in Myanmar history. The Kachin people had wept and prayed for Myanmar for 61 years. And today, we all have come together and united against authoritarianism and military dictatorship. We, together with the Kachin, have solidified our determination to defeat this junta and eradicate the military dictatorship once and for all, and replace the Tatmadaw with a modern Myanmar military, a Federal Army.

Once we achieve that, the second step will be to write the Constitution of Myanmar. One based on federal democratic principles and self-determination for all the people of Myanmar, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, culture, and gender. Every day we step closer to our Freedom, peace and prosperity.

And thirdly, together with our Kachin brothers and sisters, revolutionaries and visionaries, we will start building the Federal Democratic Union of Myanmar, where we all will enjoy a brighter future. Where we will all be free to pursue our dreams. That is where a peaceful, prosperous tomorrow is waiting for all the people of Myanmar.

We thank all Kachin people for all they have done over the last 61 years, and we cannot show enough appreciation to our heroic martyrs for their sacrifices. They have been on the front lines defending freedom, peace, and Federal democracy for the last 61 years. For that, we thank you.

May God bless the Brave Kachin people; may God bless the Kachin land!

Sincerely,

H.E. Dr. Sasa
