It is with a heavy heart, and deep sadness that we have heard of the horrific act of violence committed in Nong Bua Lam Phu. Any senseless killing of innocent civilians is a terrible crime and a great loss, however the slaying of dozens of children in a care centre, where children should be nurtured, cared for, and above all, safe, is a tragedy almost too horrible to comprehend. Myanmar knows all too well the pain and suffering of young lives cut short by senseless violence. We have seen too often the sanctity of schools and care centres brutally violated, and children mutilated, maimed, and murdered. The pain the Thai people feel this day, is a pain we share. And in this time of difficulty and grief, we stand by the Thai people, and residents of Nong Bua Lam Phu, and above all, the victims and their families. We offer our support, our deepest condolences, and our fervent wish that nowhere on Earth should such an act of violence ever again take place.
