Today, we welcome the decisions of Total Energies and Chevron to withdraw from supporting the military regime in Myanmar. This is a big win for the people of Myanmar. In fact, all international companies should immediately cease supporting the genocidal intent of the military junta in Myanmar. It has been so long that the same military generals in Myanmar have stolen the wealth of the people of Myanmar and used it to buy weapons to kill innocent civilians instead of using these funds for the well-being of the civilians through such means as education, health, and public services.

We are pleased that Total Energies and Chevron both have finally come to the understanding that they can no longer contribute to the crimes against humanity, atrocities, and genocide against people of Myanmar by providing oil and gas revenues to the military junta.

We hope and pray that other companies working in Myanmar will follow in the footsteps of Total Energies and Chevron and stop contributing to war crimes and genocide in Myanmar. All companies and businesses that are directly or indirectly supporting the military generals in Myanmar are bear responsibility in the horrible crimes the junta is committing.

Myanmar oil and gas belongs to the people of Myanmar. It should never be used to torture, rape, murder, and burn down the houses and places of worship of the civilians. In fact, natural resources should be reserved and protected from illegal exploitation by the military junta. Therefore, we urge the international communities and companies around the world to put the people of Myanmar first when it comes to the natural resources of Myanmar.

Once again, we urge the international communities to take strong and strategic actions against the military junta. The international communities are requested to apply coordinated and targeted sanctions against MOGE to cut off the financing of a military responsible for human rights abuses and the genocides of its own citizens.

Sincerely,

H.E. Dr. Sasa
