We are extremely saddened to hear that today, on the 21st of November 2021, 15 pilgrims have died and 30 more are missing due to a sudden ocean swell at Kyaik Ne Ye Le pagoda in Mon State of Myanmar. We all pray and hope that the missing will be found alive and well and we send our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the lost. In moments like these we pray to almighty God to give the grieving friends and families peace and comfort. We express our deepest thanks to the rescue team and to the kind and brave people of Mon State who responded to the crisis by showing love and kindness to their fellow citizens. At the same time, we feel regret that our country continues to suffer from a man-made crisis which is much more difficult to overcome and survive than today’s natural disaster. We hope for the day when we can freely help each other without fear of evil. Our prayers and best wishes are with the families and loved ones of the lost and of the missing in this difficult time.

Sincerely,

H.E. Dr. Sasa
